Find Funding

There are a number of publicly available web-based search tools and other sites available. Most agencies have well established areas of interest, and they fund proposals that help them achieve their goals.

Federal Databases

Grants.gov  

Grants.gov centralizes grant programs across all federal grant-making agencies. It provides standardized grant information, application packages, and processes for finding and applying for federal grants. Users can search for grants. Individual researchers do not need to register with grants.gov. 

FedBizOpps  

FesBizOpps is the U.S. Government's website for commercial vendors and government buyers. Select federal agencies also list their funding opportunities here.

SBIR/STTR (Small Business Innovation Research/Small Business Technology Transfer)

SBIR/STTR provides information funding opportunities for the development and commercialization of new technologies in partnership with small business.

The Office of Grants and Federal Resources (GFR) helps state agencies, local governments, and non-profit organizations, find, win and manage grants.

Fundsnet Services 

Fundsnet is a no cost resource for information about grants, fundraising, philanthropy, foundations and 501(c)(3) non-profits organizations to those in need of funding and research for their philanthropic efforts and missions

Philanthropy News Digest 

Philanthropy News Digest publishes RFPs and notices of awards as a free service for U.S.-based grant-making organizations and nonprofits.

Resources for American Christianity 

The Lilly Endowment Inc. supports the causes of religion, education and community development. The Endowment's grantmaking in Religion are focused on Christian faith and life, congregational life and ministry, pastoral leadership development, supportive religious institutions, and public understanding of religion.

Aetna Foundation 

Established in 1972, the Aetna Foundation works to improve the health status and quality of care of the individual and community, focusing efforts on opportunities that lead to meaningful improvements in health and the health care system.

Alfred P. Sloan Foundation 

Established in 1934 the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation focuses on science, technology, and economic institutions, believing that the scholars and practitioners working in these fields are the chief drivers of the nation's health and prosperity. Funding is available for projects that will result in a strong benefit to society, and for which funding from the private sector, the government, or other foundations is not widely available.

Alpha Foundation for Improvement of Mine Safety and Health

Established in 2011, this Foundation seeks to improve mine health and safety through funding research and development projects by qualified academic institutions and other not-for-profit organizations.

American Association for Cancer Research (AACR)

Established in 1907, AACR accelerates progress toward the prevention and cure of cancer by promoting research, education, communication, and collaboration.

American Cancer Society

The American Cancer Society (ACS) is the largest nongovernmental funder of cancer research in the U.S. ACS funds groundbreaking research that helps understand cancer's causes, determine how best to prevent it, and discover new ways to cure it.

Arizona Commission on the Arts

Arizona Commission on the Arts is an agency of the State of Arizona, the Arizona Commission on the Arts provides grants, programs, services and leadership in support of the arts and arts learning programs.

Arizona Community Foundation

Funding from the Arizona Community Foundation and Affiliates is awarded year-round to a wide range of community organizations, educational institutions, and government agencies through competitive grant cycles as well as discretionary and advised grantmaking.

AZ Humanities 

Arizona Humanities is a statewide 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and the Arizona affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

The Gordan and Betty Moore Foundation focuses on bold ideas that create enduring impact in the areas of environmental conservation, patient care, and science.

James S. McDonnell Foundation

Established in 1950 the James S. McDonnell Foundation aims to "improve the quality of life" by contributing to the generation of new knowledge through its support of research and scholarship. Currently funding is available in three program areas: Studying Complex Systems, Understanding Human Cognition, Mathematical & Complex Systems Approaches for Brain Cancer. 

Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS)

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world's largest voluntary (nonprofit) health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services.

March of Dimes

The March of Dimes helps mothers have full-term pregnancies and research the problems that threaten the health of babies.

McKnight Brain Research Foundation

The Foundation works to promote research and investigation of the brain in the fundamental mechanisms that underlie the neurobiology of memory with clinical relevance to the problems of age-related memory loss.
