Conflict of Interest

In compliance with federal requirements, Grand Canyon University (GCU) monitors, documents, and tracks significant financial interests that may conflict or be perceived to conflict with any externally funded research. If any significant financial interests pose a potential conflict, investigators are required to report it to the Office of Research and Grants (ORG).

Upon the discovery of any significant financial interests that may pose a conflict, prime investigators and or research members should disclose this information to the Office of Research and Grants (ORG). The primary method of contact for the ORG is [email protected] 

To ensure that members of research understand the role of the Conflict of Interest policy, employees involved in externally funded research are required to complete CITI training. By the end of their training those involved in research should have a clear understanding of what constitute a conflict of interest.

As part of its commitment to promoting objectivity in research and in compliance with applicable federal regulations, non-federal agency guidelines, and the University’s Financial Conflicts of Interest (FCOI) policy, Grand Canyon University requires an Investigator to submit a Disclosure of Significant Financial Interest form prior to the submission of a research proposal to a Public Health Service (PHS) agency, including the National Science Foundation (NSF) and other applicable private foundation/agencies to ensure that the design, conduct, and reporting of sponsored program activity will not be biased by a significant financial interest or obligation of any investigator.
